Evolving Role of Boards and Directors

To begin our 2011‐2012 series of events and seminars, we are very fortunate to welcome to Ottawa, Mrs. Donna Soble Kaufman, who is the new Chair of the Institute of
Corporate Directors.

We have invited Mrs. Kaufman, who has a distinguished career as a lawyer and Director on Boards of many large corporations, numerous Not‐for‐Profit and as a member of the
Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on the Public Service, to share with us her views on the evolving roles of both the Boards and the Directors who serve on them:

- Key lessons from her extensive Board experience
- How is the role of the Board changing
- What is the vision for the future of the ICD

Penny Collenette will moderate a Conversation with the Chair in an open format which will allow you to pose questions and share in the conversation with her.

Donna Soble Kaufman, LL.M, F.ICD and ICD Chair

Donna is the Chair of the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as a director of The Historica‐Dominion Institute, the Advisory Board of Catalyst, and is a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on the Public Service. She is a former partner of Stikeman Elliott and since 1987when she became a director, Chair of the Board and CEO of Selkirk Communications, she has served on the boards of a number of public, Crown and N‐f‐P organizations over the past 20 years. In 2001 she was named a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors

Penny Collenette

Penny has had a distinguished and diverse career in politics, academia and business which is characterized by a keen dedication to advancing human rights, equality and an inclusive society. Penny is an Adjunct Professor at uOttawa’s law faculty, a former Senior Director of the PMO, a former Vice‐President with George Weston Ltd. And was a Senior Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government. She has served on many corporate and Nf‐P Boards and has been a dedicated fundraiser for many community organizations.
